Busy July Networking Meeting in Bootle

Lanson.jpgNearly 70 members and guests attended our July lunch which took place at Bootle Cricket Club.  The meeting was sponsored by Lanson Technology ServicesTo start the meeting, Gary Taylor of St James Place Financial Advisors and Investors, based with DRP Insurance, Southport was the member at the June meeting whose business card was pulled out randomly to feature in THE FOCAL POINTThis is a five minute section of the meeting where members are interviewed informally about aspects of their business or sector.  Gary was asked by the CEO about the implications for investors during the current credit crunch environment and also the issues regarding long term retirement planning and pensions. Gary gave a brief overview of the key issues and ended up throughout the meeting having one or two specific chats with members and guests who raised a number of questions and queries.  As a result two appointments have been made.

BCC.lansonLR.JPGAfter Lunch Colin Patterson, Lanson’s Technical Director gave a presentation on the Change from the operating system of Windows XP to Vista and highlighted problems which may occur and the benefits of working with either XP or Vista.  Colin explained that you can downgrade with Vista to the XP sysstem which allows machines to run faster and for some operators could be easier in this interim period.  He explained how Lanson’s service to many of its clients helps overcome operating problems such as these, and offered all members a “one hour” free no obligation consultation to talk about their technical requirements or issues.

The meeting closed with the significant song based on the need for all businesses to adopt the best personal sales practices in presenting and pitching their businesses.  The CEO reminded everyone that people buy from people, and that listening twice as much as speaking and pitching, consistently gives better results. Closing deals by evaluating customer requirement in asking the right questions and listening well is known to be more effective.  Its just human nature in responding to people who listen well and ask the right questions, so Michael Jackson and his song Human Nature finished the meeting The next networking meeting takes place on Thursday 7th August at the Royal Clifton Hotel and Spa, Southport.

New Routes from Ryanair

Ryanair, Europe’s largest low fares airline, today announced that it will launch four new routes from Liverpool John Lennon Airport (JLA) at the end of October 2008. Services will commence for the winter season onwards to Gdansk and Scezecin in Poland, Knock in Ireland and Faro in Portugal and to celebrate, Ryanair are offering seats on flights to all four new destinations from £31.

This latest expansion brings the number of routes at Ryanair’s Liverpool base to 45 and passengers can now access an even wider variety of European destinations from Liverpool.

Flights will operate daily to Knock in the west of Ireland, three times per week to Faro in southern Portugal and Gdansk in northern Poland and twice weekly to Szczecin in the west of Poland. These latest additions to Ryanair’s services from Liverpool, now mean that combined with existing Polish routes with other airlines, passengers will soon have the opportunity to fly to and from nine destinations in Poland.
