Southport Floral Hall

prestigeroomshot.jpgThe Glitz and Glamour of Hollywood was introduced to the Floral Hall Southport on Friday 6th February when the 7th Annual Prestige Ball was hosted at the venue. The Sefton Business Awards featured highly on the evening where seven local firms won honours in a celebration of local business. Guests of the event were greeted at the venue with a sparkling reception before entering the stylish Lakeside Suite where the evening’s fun began.
Once Guests were seated they were treated to a performance from Nick Donnelly, a 17 year old talented young performer from the Southport area, who belted out a tremendous rendition of ‘Aint that a kick in the head’ by Frank Sinatra. Nick also performed later on in the evening during the Prestige disco.

Following on the guests were then addressed by SCCI Chairman Ron Lofthouse OBE followed by CEO Steve Dickson both of whom were introduced by MC Simon Smithies returning to the event for the fourth consecutive year.

The evenings other star entertainers included Stephen Williams, who wowed the audience with his display of magic tricks which has earned him the World Junior Champion Magician title.

Jay Rollins who intimately entertained the crowd during dinner with his unique blend of flags2.jpgmagic, mime and juggling skills. Then there was the truly unique style of Steve Rawlings, who’s blend of stand up comedy and physical theatre had the audience both gasping in disbelief and laughing hysterically, the term ‘you have to see it to believe it’ comes to mind when describing this one of a kind performer. One of the particular highlights for the guests had to be the performance of The Band of the King’s Division in conjunction with Janina Sweetenham, during the performance guests waved there union flags and sang along to patriotic classics such as ‘Rule Britannia’.

awardshot7.jpgThe Ball took a different format to previous years as following the opening act and addresses it was time to get straight down to business with the start of the awards ceremony with dinner being served in between the presentation of the awards. Another popular feature of the evening was the Charity Raffle which we anticipate will raise in the sum of £.2,000 which will be equally distributed between Queenscourt Hospice and St Josephs Hospice. Prizes donated and winners are as follows,
